One of the first thing I notice about Japanese Garden is the "emptiness" of portion of the garden. This was a little unsettling to me where I want to fill every square inch with a riot of color. This is a key element in the design of the Japanese gardens is their striking simplicity…less is more. To successfully capture the spirit of the Japanese garden, nature is the ideal that you must strive for. Balance is another key element in Japanese gardens. In a Japanese garden rocks can represent whole mountains, and pools become lakes, A small stretch of raked sand can become an entire ocean. The phrase "Less is More" was surely first spoken by these Japanese gardeners. Japanese Garden Basic Design: The Japanese garden is not a singular type despite the fact that certain rules apply to each garden. There are three basic styles and the gardens differ by setting and use. Hill and Pond Japanese Garden (Chiesen-Kaiyn-skiki)
Flat Garden Japanese Garden (Hiraniwa) These flat gardens are usually found in front of temples and palaces for ceremonies. These are often done in the karesansui style and is very good for medication or reflection. This style denote seashore area and use the appropriate plants. Tea Garden Japanese Garden (Rojiniwa) The tea garden is the only time function overrides form. The Roji or dewy path is the focus of the garden along with the water basin and the gates. Plantings should be simple to the point of sparse. Typically steppingstones lead you toward the tea house, stone lanterns and a stone basis where guests purify themselves before participating in the ceremony.
I have done the best to present the spirit of the Japanese garden and it would be foolish for us westerners to try and create a Buddhist saints garden. When creating your Japanese garden incorporate garden features that hold meaning to you. If you follow three laws of garden you will not be wrong. The First Principle the design must suit the site. Second Principle correctly place the stones, then the trees, then the shrubs. Third Principle purchase a '6 Garden Bridge. Remember to bookmark us for: Japanese GardenBon Apatite!
