If you are a gardener and  have ever been to New Orleans and tour the Garden District with the beautiful  mansion and the wonderful gardens it is a overload of your senses. New Orleans is a great place to garden with it 60 plus inches of rain per year and rarely have to worry about freezing during the day and snow every 20 years it is a topical paradise. Everything tends to grow and prosper with little care in the rich Mississippi Delta soil that created the area.

There are avast variety of plants that flouish in New Orleans gardens.Since New Orleans winters are fairly mild, there is a year round growing season in the New Orleans area. There are a vast variety of native and tropical plants that flourish in New Orleans gardens. Hibiscus that grow taller than a single story home in just a few weeks, daylilies, iris and lilies that provide color all summer long. The Japanese magnolias that bloom before spring has sprung are beautiful. The azaleas that are put in front gardens, throughout the area, that bloom in the spring are awesome and makes every home colorful and inviting. For heavenly smells plant jasmine and gardenias which bloom in late spring.  The Camellias brighten up all winter garden and the list can go on and on. Almost everything grows in New Orleans and if you are a gardener and moving to New Orleans you will think you went to heaven.

Limes, lemons, and oranges do great in the area, with little risk of freeze damage most winters.
